Within two minutes, we heard a southern drawl asking "Y'all givin' this away for free?"

One of the great things about my family is they are always willing to unload extra furniture to us kids. Today Josh and I got to trade in our 12-year-old hand-me-down living room furniture for 9-year-old hand-me-down living room furniture.

Josh and I were both excited about the switch, because we were replacing a couch, a chair, and a recliner with two couches. For those of you unfamiliar with our family dynamic, this means no more fighting over the couch! Woo. It’s the little things, people.

Holly, however, is having a harder time adjusting.

It’s understandable. She has spent more time on the old couch over the last two years than the two of us combined.

At first, Holly tried to hide her love affair. Many a day have I opened the front door to catch her slinking off the couch, a guilty look on her face. As time went by, she got more and more brazen. It got to the point where we were scooting over so that she could take her place of honor at the “good end.”

So today, it was no surprise that she anxiously watched as we moved the old furniture out to the street, and we couldn’t help but let her have one final moment to say goodbye.

Holly says good-bye to an old friend--the couch :)

Those are fantastic photos, Erin. Understated, yet creative use of light and colors.

Doesn’t hurt to have a cute dog.
